What it does

A takeoff tool that stays out of the way.

01

Import any plan

Open PDF, PNG, or JPG plans. Multi-page PDF sets are supported, with a thumbnail strip to move between sheets.

02

Calibrate the scale

Set the scale once for the whole set by drawing over a known dimension. Override individual sheets that are drawn to a different scale.

03

Measure area & length

Get square footage and linear footage in real units. Drag any point to adjust a measurement after you've drawn it.

04

Count by clicking

Tally dowels, outlets, fixtures — anything — in color-coded categories, with running totals per page and across the set.

05

Save your work

Keep everything in a single .measura project file — the plan and all your markups travel together.

06

Export to share

Send a marked-up PDF or PNG so anyone can read the takeoff — measurements and counts burned right into the page.

Releases

1.1 Jun 18, 2026 Find Similar auto-count — box one symbol and automatically find and count every matching instance on the page. Reusable presets for areas, linears, and counts that persist across every project, so your recurring names, colors, and count symbols are ready in one click. Side-by-side split view to compare two pages at once, each pane panning and zooming independently with its own measurements and counts.
1.0 Jun 13, 2026 Initial release. Import PDF, PNG, and JPG plans; multi-page PDF support; scale calibration with per-sheet overrides; area and linear measurement with editable points; click-to-count categories; .measura project save and load; marked-up PDF and PNG export.
2.1.0 Jul 15, 2026
Refinements across markup, shapes, and page navigation.
  • Cleaner linear labels — measurement labels along linear takeoffs are clearer and easier to read.
  • Solid or dashed lines — choose a line style to tell different runs apart at a glance.
  • Area no-fill option — leave an area unfilled to keep the plan underneath fully visible.
  • Editable shapes — add or remove points on measurements you've already drawn.
  • Renamable pages — give sheets meaningful names instead of plain page numbers.
  • Resizable thumbnail strip — drag the strip wider or narrower to suit your screen.
  • Collapsible sidebar — tuck the sidebar away for a larger, distraction-free plan view.
  • Editable Active Tool panel — adjust the current tool's settings right where you're working.
2.0.0 Jun 30, 2026
A big update focused on markup, working across pages, and getting your takeoffs out of the app.
  • Split-screen editing — view and edit two pages side by side at once, each with its own zoom and navigation. Great for comparing sheets or working across a detail and its plan.
  • Highlighter tool — mark up areas in any color, with named color presets (Demo, Existing, New…) and adjustable thickness. Click for a dot or drag to paint.
  • Text comments — drop notes anywhere on the plan, as quick labels or wrapping text boxes, with resize and rotate.
  • Export your work — flattened PDF, PNG (current page or all pages), and CSV/JSON data for your takeoff quantities.
  • Faster page loading — large multi-page PDFs open and navigate noticeably quicker, with instant page previews while the full page loads.
  • Reusable presets — save your common area, linear, count, and highlighter styles and reuse them across every project.
  • Circular color picker — pick any custom color from a color wheel, alongside the standard palette.
  • Quality-of-life — a cleaner icon toolbar, readable architectural scale, arrow-key page navigation, and the app now remembers your window size and position.

Coming soon — trade-specific quantity worksheets (slab, block, framing, siding, roofing).

1.0 Jun 21, 2026
Initial Windows release.
  • Open and mark up construction plans from PDF or image files; multi-page PDFs navigate via a collapsible thumbnail strip.
  • Calibrate real-world scale per sheet, shown in familiar architectural form (e.g. 1" = 8'-0").
  • Three takeoff tools: area, linear, and count.
  • Organize counts into categories with named colors and symbols.
  • Save reusable presets for your common area, linear, and count types.
  • Adjust as you go: drag points to reshape, undo/redo (Ctrl+Z / Ctrl+Y), and hold Shift to snap to clean angles.
  • Save your work as a single .measura project file — your original plan is never modified.
